Day 1: Transfer: Puno harbour - Taquile - Llachon (Capachica Peninsula). Free afternoon in Llachon (3,800 meters above sea level).
Beginning of service in Juliaca, where our representative will be waiting for your at the harbour to ease your transfer to the Island of Taquile and then on to the community of Llachon on the Capachica Peninsula.
Our captain is already waiting for us on his boat. We will navigate across Puno’s bay into the Greater Lake. The water becomes darker, and after approximately 2 ½ hours navigating, we will disembark on the island’s north shore. We will take a nice and easy path across the island discovering the particular traditions of the people in Taquile, enjoying the fabulous landscape dominates by Bolivia’s Cordillera Real. Upon reaching the centre of the island, we are in the largest town’s main plaza where you can discover local handicrafts. Here, the men knit their own chullos and chuspas (typical Andean knit cap and coca leave bag). Lunch at a typical restaurant where you may try a lake trout or pejerrey. We climb down impressive stone steps with a marvelous view towards the harbor where our boat awaits us. This time it will take us towards the Capachica peninsula just an hour from Taquile.
Our host already waits for us on the dock to take us to his home and offer us a cup of coca tea or a cup of muña, a native mint. After becoming installed in your rooms, you will be free to take a walk around the countryside to discover the life and traditions of this singular peninsula or perhaps you World prefer to stroll down to the white sandy beach of the world’s highest navigable lake (3,800 meters above sea level).

This 6-hour trek will allow us to discover several communities that live on the lake’s shore. The walk starts cross-country near the lake’s shore where we will be able to observe work on the fields. After lunch on a small isolated beach, we climb up to the highest point on the Capachica Peninsula to reach a pass that presents us with a formidable horizon. We have a 380° view of the islands of Taquile and Amantani, the Capachica and Ccotos Peninsula, Puno’s bay, and Bolivia’s whole Cordillera Real, which reminds us that we are in the Andes. It is definitively an awesome lookout point on Lake Titicaca and its region. We return to the small town of Llachon down an old and well fenced path accompanied by sheepherders and their animals where our host awaits us with a hot cup of muña tea.
